In 1994 Shear Katz moved into the historic Fitger's Brewery Complex, overlooking magnificent Lake Superior, nestled between four-star lodging and a variety of restaurants and gift shops. Shear Katz Salon and Day Spa uses Aveda products and services. There are 4000 square feet of salon space, including specialized treatment rooms and retail space. We offer a wide variety of treatments and day spa packages. We are committed to meeting the needs of our clientele and creating a relaxing atmosphere designed to rejuvenate your spirit.

Douglas Peterson, the owner of Shear Katz, began his cosmetology career in 1979. In 1984, he opened Shear Katz Salon with three chairs. After just one year, three chairs grew into six. After consulting various companies, and attending many educational seminars, Doug and his professional team made a commitment to body, mind, and spirit. Aveda was the only company that encompassed his philosophy and met his promise of excellence.
